Do You Believe In Miracles?

I do.  I believe miracles happen around us every day.  I live in wonder every day.  How does that tree become a tree?  The myriad details of a flower.  Life truly is a mystery.  

And then once in a while you get a doozy of a miracle.  Thanks God.  

My younger brother was estranged from us for 17 years.  My beautiful Mama prayed every single day for his well being and for him to come back to the fold.  A mother’s heart.  Then one day God would answer that prayer.  She received a random text asking for a coffee date with my parents.  That first 4+ hour coffee opened the door to our miracle.  No questions asked, he was back with us.  We were arms wide open. 

This year on Canada day I had a small party to celebrate this beautiful country we live in.  Well into the evening, as in midnight..  5 of the moms took over the hot tub after the teens had been in and out all night.  Shortly after that the hot tub began making very loud pop noises.  The second time it happened I looked over the edge and saw massive sparks under the hot tub.  Both the sound and the sparks seemed like fireworks.  We yelled for someone to cut the breaker.  A couple weeks after this incident I had an electrician over at my house who took one look at the hot tub and the burned panel underneath and declared that with no exaggeration that despite anything, there is no reason all 5 of us were not electrocuted that night.  That my hot tub guy had failed to install a GFI on the outlet.  

Say what???

With 5 mothers in the hot tub, with our teens in and out all night, etc etc etc… the electrician repeated many times that it is a miracle we are all alive.  I can hardly think of that without feeling sick to my stomach.

When I think back on my life and the many close calls I have had in so many ways I have no doubt in my mind that miracles are alive and well.  I give thanks every single day for the grace I have been afforded.  Pay close attention.  You have miracles in your life too.  As I get older and look around I believe life itself is the greatest miracle of all.
