RAILAY BEACH, NIGHT MARKETS, & RAIN!
AO NANG, KRABI – THAILAND PART 2
Day 42 – NOV 26 – AO NANG, KRABI
I got up, had my coffee and a 7-11 sandwich (which is a huge ‘thing’ here – all over tictok as well, and Jorg had them the entire time she was in Asia, so I have had a few though I definitely do not love them). I headed out to Railay Beach on a wood bamboo boat. What a super cool place. I walked down a long path, taking me through a winding tiny village of shops. It ended up leading to a massive cave, Phra Nang Cave – WOW!!
As I walked through the cave, I took my time – taking it in. at the end of the path, was the opening to the Andaman Sea at Phra Nang Beach. I think when I walked through the last opening at the cave and saw the beach, it was the most stunning beach I have seen to date. It took my breath away.
There were rock climbers climbing to the top of the cave. Everybody was happy. I took my time to take it in. Absolutely incredible.
I took the very cool boat back to Ao Nang. I took my scooter, which has proved to be the most invaluable decision I made in Krabi – to the end of Ao Nang Beach and walked to the end when scooters were no longer allowed. And to my amazement, there were countless monkeys interacting with people. Though I have heard many times, they are aggressive and if they bite you – you need several vaccines so I was not going to take that chance. I really didn’t want one jumping on me.
I came home to freshen up. I was picked up at 5:45pm to head to a cooking class. There were only 3 of us in the class. Me, Ravi, and Karina – both from the Bay area – San Francisco. Super interesting to chat with them all night while we cooked ELEVEN dishes!! Wow. Then we ate them all (well part of each dish). It was amazing!! Then they gave us the recipes to everything we made – so good!!
I came home and settled into a couple of episodes of The Good Doctor, which I started here in Krabi. My parents have been talking about this show for a year or 2, so I thought I’d give it a try and I love it!!
Rita ended up taking my postcards to the post office for me, amazing! Now I have heard that Canada Post is on strike so I guess we shall see if they make it to Canada.
Another great day in the books!
DAY 43 – NOV 27 – AO NANG, KRABI
My last day in Krabi! What to do.
I decided to find a print shop and get my painting made into postcards to send home for Christmas. The ladies in the shop were great! I made a few, not tons but a few as a great Christmas card to send to a few close friends and family.
I came back home, had some breakfast – then headed to Ao Nang Beach. Found a pedicure place – got a new gel colour on my toes. Decided to get a one hour massage at the same place. Both the gel toes and the massage together cost $30 Canadian.
Then I found a hair salon, got my hair washed, dried and styled for $14.
I scootered over to the night market and bought some kernel corn with butter and salt, topped with KitKat chocolate topping. Bought a few more small things I had wanted from the market.
Got home, showered, shaved and prepared to leave. Packed my bags for the morning with the Good Doctor on in the background. I really liked this place.
Update on my sunglasses… I was going to see if I could wear my $1.50 sunglasses the whole trip, just to see.. a woman in Vietnam cranked me in the head, where I had my cheap sunglasses.. and I heard a loud crack. They did not fully break but a little… I bought another pair I have been wearing. This week I lost those for a few days and had to go back to my cheap pair. My other pair showed up as I was heading to the airpot for Bangkok. The constant battle of making sure I do not lose one little thing as my entire life is in 2 bags.
